Turkey has begun exporting electricity to Iraq

The flicking the switches for the project was marked by a ceremony on Tuesday attended by Turkish, Iraqi and US officials. Representing Turkey was Energy and Natural Resources Minister Hilmi Güler.
The electricity, which will be used in the north of Iraq, is being supplied by Karadeniz Toptan Elektrik Ticaret AŞ, a privately owned power firm based in the Black Sea region. Its 75 megawatt power station located in the south east province of Silopi, close to the Iraqi border, will be responsible for generating the power to be sold to Iraq.
Energy Minister Güler said that Turkey had also undertaken to assist in the rebuilding of Iraq’s energy infrastructure by having Turkish technical experts help repair the country’s damaged power grid. Iraq.
