Turkey – Factors To Watch on March 27


Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Wednesday.

The lira USDTRY traded at 32.2005 against the U.S. dollar, weakening from a close of 32.1705 on Tuesday.

The main BIST 100 share index XU100 closed 2.46% lower at 8,807.38 points on Tuesday.

GLOBAL MARKETS

Japanese stocks advanced amid a weakening yen on Wednesday while Chinese stocks slipped, with overall regional trading lacking strong direction in a holiday-shortened week that ends with a key reading of U.S. inflation.

ERDOGAN SCHEDULE

President Tayyip Erdogan will hold rallies in the eastern provinces of Diyarbakir (1000 GMT) and Batman (1300 GMT) ahead of Sunday’s nationwide municipal elections.

TRANSPORT MINISTER

Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu will carry out inspections at Hatay Airport and make a press statement (0830 GMT).

MAIN OPPOSITION

Ozgur Ozel, leader of the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), will carry out visits in Istanbul (1100 GMT/1430 GMT).

VICE PRESIDENT

Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz will meet with the business people of ASRIAD in Istanbul at a Ramadan fast-breaking meal (1600 GMT).

IYI PARTY

Meral Aksener, leader of the opposition IYI Party will carry out visits in the northwestern province of Eskisehir (1100 GMT).
