Turkey – Factors to watch on June 30
Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Monday.
The lira USDTRY traded at 39.9105 against the U.S. dollar at 0419 GMT, compared with a close on Friday of 39.88.
The main BIST 100 share index XU100 closed 1.12% higher at 9.404,89 points on Friday.
GLOBAL MARKETS
Asia shares firmed on Monday as signs of progress in a trade standoff between the United States and Canada helped risk sentiment, while the dollar dipped on concerns U.S. jobs data will show enough weakness to justify larger rate cuts.
ERDOGAN PROGRAMME
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan will attend the Turkey’s Exporters Association’s event and award ceremony in Istanbul (0800 GMT). Trade Minister Omer Bolat will also attend the event. Erdogan will then chair the cabinet meeting (1200 GMT).
INDUSTRY MINISTER
Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır will attend the TÜBİTAK AI event in Istanbul (0600 GMT).
FOREIGN MINISTER
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will meet with British counterpart David Lammy.
FOREIGN TRADE
Turkish Statistics Institute will announce May trade and jobless data (0700 GMT).
TREASURY
Turkish treasury will announce borrowing programme for July-September period.
