Turkey Current Account Deficit Widens in May


Turkey’s current account deficit widened to $0.68 billion in May 2025 from $0.58 billion in the same month of the previous year.

This marked the seventh consecutive month of deficit, but the smallest in the sequence, as the services account surplus increased to $5.64 billion in May 2025 from $5.42 billion a year earlier.

At the same time, the primary income shortfall narrowed to $1.48 billion from $1.67 billion in May 2024, while the secondary income deficit went down to $0.03 billion from $0.15 billion.

Meanwhile, the goods account deficit widened to $4.8 billion in May 2025 from $4.19 billion in the corresponding month of the previous year.
