Turkey Becomes More Competitive

IMD determines how much competitive power for a country has in 2004 by looking at the competition atmosphere in 60 countries and regional economies using 323 criteria. The U.S. ranked highest in competitive power followed by Singapore, Canada, Australia, Izeland, Hong Kong, Denmark, Finland, Luxembourg, and Ireland in that order. Among the seven industrialized western countries known as the G-7 countries, Germany came in 21th, Japan 23rd, France 30th and Italy 51st. Mexico, Poland, Indonesia, Argentina and Venezuella followed behind Turkey in that order.

According to IMD data, Turkey came in 35th after Romania by maintaining its place in Europe, the Middle East and Africa which includes 36 countries. Poland came in last after Turkey in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
