Turkey and Chile sign military cooperation agreement

Deputy Chief of General Staff Ilker Basbug and Defense Minister Michelle Bachelet of Chile signed the cooperation agreement at General Staff headquarters.

Basbug who delivered a speech at the ceremony said that the agreement would contribute to further improvement of military relations and new opportunities between the two countries.

"Our countries will participate more effectively in protection of global and regional peace thanks to those relations in military field," he noted.

Defense Minister Bachelet of Chile said that the cooperation agreement was the peak of rapprochement in defense institutions between the two countries and noted that this agreement was the beginning of a new period.

Stating that Turkey and Chile shared common values and principles in foreign politics and defense fields, Bachelet said that the two countries entered globalization with their all opportunities.

Bachelet said that the agreement included basic factors for starting of broader cooperation possibilities in the field of defense.
