Turkey: AKP yet to convince people on sending troops
According to an article in NTV news channel, operations carried out against Uzan group took the second stage in the issues that turks considered interesting.
65 PERCENT AGAINST SENDING TROOPS
73 percent of those who were interviewed by the poll think that US will fail in Iraq, while 65 percent are against any Turkish participation in the country. The interesting part is that 49 percent of those against sending troops are AKP voters.
54 PERCENT AGAINST FOREST LANDS SALE
54 percent were supportive of President Ahmet Necdet Sezer’s veto to constitutional amendments that allow the sale of lands formerly considered forests. Same number also supports the issue going to a public referendum.
The new anti-terrorism law, also known as “penitence law”, is not viewed favorably by the people, according to the poll. 47 percent see this as a step backwards.
58 percent still think that the recovery of the economy was yet to start, while 48 percent are unhappy with the performance of the government in August.
