Tukish PM Ready to Play Hardball

When asked about his expectations for the negotiations the Prime Minister noted that Turkey and TRNC will have to pay close attention to the other side’s interests in order to make sure that the final agreements is beneficial to both Turkey and TRNC.

Erdogan was then asked about further developments in the Cyprus issue, to which he replied that everything is proceeding as normal.

Another reporter inquired, "What is your expectation about the New York negotiations?" Erdogan answered: "We gave him [Denktas] a road map. How loyal he will remain to it I do not know. We’ll see in time. Denktas’s withdrawal from the negotiations is out of question."

Erdogan then answered a final question saying: "We have not deduced any positive approach from Annan’s letter directed to the meetings we held before. Our stance was for the restart of the negotiations."
