TRNC to open Maras for settlement before election

LEFKOSA (AA) – Turkish Cypriot Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertugruloglu said today that the TRNC Maras and Lefkosa airport to be opened for use of both Turkish and Greek Cypriots which were closed for 30 years.

Being in New York, Ertugruloglu stated that before presidential election in November, Maras could be open for use of Turkish and Greek Cypriots.

He stressed that for Greek Cyprus rejected Turkish Cypriot President Rauf Denktas’ offer to open Maras, the region could be open one-sided or in cooperation with the UN.

Denktas had offered Maras to be allowed Greek Cypriots and the north’s citizens and he had added, "To anyone who will come to here. Since, their government doesn’t approve, so any G. Cypriots can come to Maras and can repair their old homes."
