TRNC lifts passport obligation for EU citizens
In accordance with the decision of TRNC Council of Ministers, TRNC border police will not ask for visa from EU citizens, including the Greek Cypriots, if they show their identity or passport when they cross from the Greek Cypriot side to TRNC.
TRNC does not limit transitions of tours from the Greek Cypriot side to its territory while limits personal transitions between 6 p.m. and 12 p.m.
Travel agencies will give TRNC Tourism Ministry the list of tourists to cross to TRNC before the date of their visit. These lists will include detailed information about names-surnames, birth and place of birth, nationality, identity number, and period of stay in TRNC of the tourists. In addition, the travel agencies will sign a contract in which they undertakes the responsibility of the tour.
Approval of this list will be considered visa in crossings from the Greek Cypriot side to TRNC.
Passengers crossing from the Greek Cypriot side to TRNC will use Ledra Palace border gate in Lefkosa and those who want to go to TRNC by vehicles will use Metehan border gate in Lefkosa, Beyarmudu and Akyar border gates near Gazimagusa.
TRNC will continue to ask passports of non-EU citizens.
TRNC Council of Ministers had freed crossings between TRNC and the Greek Cypriot side under certain rules on April 23, 2003.
