TRNC denaturalizes 1,563 people took up TRNC citizenship

LEFKOSA (AA) – The Council of Ministers of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has decided to denaturalize 1,563 people who took up TRNC citizenship during the period of the former coalition government of the National United Party (UBP) and the Democrat Party (DP).

TRNC Council of Ministers convened on Thursday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Talat.

Following the meeting, TRNC Health and Social Assistance Minister and Council of Ministers Spokesman Huseyin Celal said, "we decided to denaturalize 1,563 people who were granted TRNC citizenship with a decision of the former Council of Ministers dated September 24, 2003. These people took up TRNC citizenship against the relevant laws."
