Treasury Official Taylor Visiting Turkey

Treasury Department spokesman Tony Fratto said Taylor was invited by the country’s finance minister "to talk about how economic reforms are taking hold in Turkey." Fratto wouldn’t say whether Taylor intends to discuss specific issues related to a possible U.S. war with Iraq. "There will be lots of issues on the table and lots of things to discuss surrounding economic reforms," Fratto said. Taylor was expected to stay in Turkey one or two days, Fratto said. Turkey relies on Washington’s political and economic support. It is a key U.S. ally in the region. The International Monetary Fund has provided loans to Turkey to help the country deal with its economic crisis.
