Third day of talks completed in Cyprus negotiations

NICOSIA (AA) – Third day talks ended on Tuesday within new negotiation process being held to find a solution to Cyprus issue.

The talks took place in the buffer zone in Lefkosa.

Core issues were reported to be taken up during today’s talks that lasted for three hours.

President Rauf Denktas of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is expected to make a statement at 14.00 local time about the talks.

"WE GO TO NEGOTIATION TABLE WITH OUR DEMANDS ON CORE ISSUES"

TRNC President Denktas said on Tuesday prior to the meeting, "we go to negotiation table with our demands on core issues. Let’s see what they will bring."

Third day talks within new negotiation process in Cyprus started in the buffer zone in Lefkosa.

Replying to a question on whether map issue would be brought onto agenda in today’s talks or not, Denktas said they have not yet reached that point.

Denktas said the point where they would start today’s talks were set beforehand, stressing that both sides knew where to start.

Denktas is expected to make a statement at 14.00 local time in case talks end.
