There is no state like Kurdistan

Answering a question during the weekly press briefing saying, "some Iraqis were not allowed to enter Turkey since there was an expression like ‘Kurdistan’ in their passports although their place of birth was Kirkuk. Is there a law regarding this matter", Er said, "there is not such a state, and the Republic of Turkey hasn’t recognized such a state. So, there is not any circulars regarding this matter. There is not a country like you mention, among world countries."

Answering another question, Er said that he had reservations about the "minority rights" report prepared by the Advisory Board of the Prime Ministry’s Human Rights Directorate since some expressions in the report did not reflect the realities (of Turkey).

Er, who was a member of the committee which prepared the report, noted, "the report is comprised of 81 pages. As the representative of the Security Department I insisted on instructing of the police officers on human rights, torture and mal-treatment, as well as on the rehabilitation of detention rooms. But, I had some reservations since some expressions in the report did not reflect the realities."
