The US should stop showing favouritism to Iraqi Kurds

If the US continued to follow a policy of granting control of Northern Iraq to the Kurds and giving them a greater than deserved say in the future of the country there will be a disaster, Ambassador Faruk said.
Turkey was concerned that the US gave excessive importance to Kurdish groups on the Iraqi Interim Governing Council, he said.
“The favouritism shown towards several groups was reflected in Governing Council and interim council of ministers,” the ambassador said at a media briefing in Washington. “If they say the north of Iraq belongs to Kurds while determining the future of Iraq, this will be a disaster. The Kurds were protected more regarding the future of the country. We don’t have any problems with the Kurds. We protected them for more than 10 years. We want the best for them but everything should be done under equality basis.”
Loolu said that Turkey feared that any favouritism could lead to further instability in Iraq
The ambassador also called on the US to take stronger measures to stamp out the presence of the terrorist group the PKK/KADEK, which still maintains bases in Northern Iraq.
“Turkish public opinion wants action to be taken against the PKK/KADEK in the north of Iraq,” he said. “The patience of the public is decreasing. We want to see concrete moves against PKK/KADEK in north of Iraq.”
