‘The Sick Man’ of Europe

In the editorial, entitled ‘The Sick Man of Europe’, Pollock called the Justice and Development Party (AKP) ‘Islamic’, ‘shrewd’ and ‘opportunist’. Pollock said: "Most of the heritage of Ataturk is at risk of being lost. Turkey is becoming narrow-minded, paranoiac and ordinary it has no friendship for the US and is not accepted by the European Union (EU)." Naming newspapers such as Hurriyet, Sabah and Yeni Safak, Pollock heavily criticized the Turkish media, the government and opposition and he claimed that the hostility was encouraged by the serious and widespread entertainment of conspiracy theories.
