The Republic of Türkiye celebrated its 100th Anniversary, a momentous milestone in its national narrative, at the Ambassador’s residence in New Delhi. The occasion was marked with grandeur and festivity in a gathering that brought together dignitaries from the world of business, politics, tourism, culture, and art. To honour the event, New Delhi’s iconic monument Qutub Minar was illuminated with a Turkish flag in commemoration of the country’s 100th anniversary.
The reception hosted by the Ambassador was graced by about 500 eminent guests including Indian authorities, Indian friends, Turkish citizens as well as Ambassadors and diplomats. This gathering celebrated the richness of Turkey’s cultural heritage with mesmerising Turkish classical music performances by Turkish musicians visiting India for the Republic’s 100th year reception. Some of the signature dishes from the delectable Turkish cuisine served to the guests were kebap and döner, Turkish olive oil mezzes, Turkish ice cream and baklava cooked and prepared by Turkish chefs travelled from Türkiye. They even had a lucky draw with prizes like flight tickets and vacation vouchers for tourist spots in Turkey.
The Turkish Ambassador, Fırat Sunel, and his wife, Yonca Sunel, welcomed all the guests. Sunel said it was an honour to have diplomats from India, Turkey, and other friendly countries at the event. He mentioned how popular Turkey has become in India and how strong the bond between India and Turkey is. This event showed how Turkey has achieved a lot in its 100 years and how friendly and generous its people are
