The Netherlands and Turkey strengthen ties with tulip planting at Turkish embassy

In the garden of the Turkish Embassy in The Hague, tulip bulbs were planted last Friday as a symbol of the flourishing partnership between the Netherlands and Turkey. The ceremonial event was attended by Mark-Jan Terwindt of Royal Anthos, Arjan Smit of TPN, representatives from Keukenhof, and the new Turkish ambassador, Ms. Fatma Ceren Yazgan.

The tulip varieties planted were ‘Gelibolu’, ‘Kızılırmak’, and ‘Anadolu’, three special cultivars officially named last year, each inspired by regions and stories from Turkey’s rich cultural heritage. The tulips represent the centuries-old connection between the two nations, a bond in which the tulip has long held a special place.

“It’s an honor to strengthen business relations through such a beautiful and symbolic flower that connects our two countries,” said Mark-Jan Terwindt of Royal Anthos.

The joint planting was not only a gesture of friendship but also a promise of continued collaboration. Royal Anthos, TPN, and Keukenhof all expressed enthusiasm for new ideas and future projects that may grow from this initiative.

Ambassador Fatma Ceren Yazgan thanked the Dutch partners for their contributions and highlighted the importance of both cultural and economic cooperation between Turkey and the Netherlands, two countries united, once again, by the timeless beauty of the tulip.
