The best hotels in the Turkish Riviera for year-round luxury

Tucked stylishly inside Tilkicik Bay, a cool marble lobby, lofty foliage and saintly La Labo scent will transport you to EDITION’s “universe” of hedonistic luxury, just 3k from Yalikavak Marina.

Here, Michelin-starred dining, haute beach vibes and alfresco disco collide, all against the backdrop of a twinkling Aegean sea. With Studio 54 co-founder Ian Schrager at its helm, who believes EDITION hotels capture the magic nightclubs have since lost in recent years, this is perhaps no surprise. Schrager’s visceral touches can be felt throughout the hotel, from bespoke ceramic suites and a super-luxe spa to large garden terraces adorned with ivory sculptures and fantastical orchid flora.

The hotel has its own nightclub (of course), a private beach club where DJs play throughout the week and a pop-up menswear boutique by CHE Studios, selling stylish poolside fits. Add to this a luxury jetty lined with supersized hammocks, and private cabanas with sushi and cocktails at the press of a button, and it’s almost impossible to pull yourself away.

Restaurants at Bodrum EDITION are also seriously upscale. Brava serves Italian cuisine in a classic Riviera terrace setting (as well as an incredible 11-dish traditional Turkish breakfast) and Kitchen, headed by local chef Osman Sezener, is a combination of stunning bay views and Michelin-starred dishes so good they could make you weep. Console yourself with a Dirty Martini – the best in Bodrum, in our opinion. Dirmil, Balyek Cd. No 5A, 48400 Bodrum/Muğla.

Six Senses Kaplankaya

Six Senses Kaplankaya boasts one of Europe’s biggest spas, with an impressive marble hammam, 38 treatment rooms, crystal sauna and experiential rains (trust us, this one is fun), but that is just a drop in the Aegean ocean of what this wellness resort has to offer. It’s a truly ethereal experience, thanks to its secluded location (the nearest hotel is a 45-minute drive away) and uninterrupted panoramic views across the Bodrum Peninsula.

Centred around sustainability, therapeutic workshops are run regularly at The Alchemy Bar and Earth Lab – a quaint shack sat amongst a lofty herb garden and allotments that also cater for the hotel’s four restaurants. Mezze on the Sea serves freshly caught fish in a garden setting, reminiscent of an upscale family villa, with scattered tables and olive trees under the sun. Higher up, Sea and Sage makes for a serene evening of Mediterranean cuisine and bright cocktails, with stunning pink sky views surrounded by rosemary tipping in the breeze.

Elsewhere, the luxury-shack style Orkatoy Beach restaurant overlooks a sandy cove, rocky Riviera shores and discreet boardwalks, all in keeping with Six Senses Kaplankaya’s natural aesthetic. The pool deserves a special mention, too; Hockney-esque with intelligent architecture and sun rippling on California Blue water, this hotel really is a work of art.
