The attacks brought Turkey closer to Europe

TURKEY- England’s Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said that the Istanbul bomb attacks only made Britain more determined to see Turkey as a full member of the European Union (EU) "as soon as possible".

However, the E.U. did not give full support to Straw’s views, preferring to issue more reserved statements supporting the current political process.
