Terror Strikes Israelis in Egypt

Two more simultaneous explosions followed the first blast and hospital sources report that more than 100 people have been killed or injured and a large part of the hotel has collapsed. The detonation of car bombs caused the explosion in the countryside on the Red Sea coast late last night. One of the wounded women taken to the hospital claimed that two suicide commandos organized the attack on the hotel.

Confirming that the incident was a terrorist attack, Egyptian officials announced that the attacks were aimed to destroy stability in Egypt and intended to frustrate Cairo’s role of mediator between Israel and Palestine. At midnight, Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon requested that Egyptian President Husnu Mubarek grant emergency permission to give rescue teams access to the country.
