Ten Thousands of Women and Children Raped in Congo

According to the organization’s report both sides of the conflict have committed mass rape crimes since 1998 when fighting broke out.

As fighting escalated, once again becoming more violent in January, more than 70.000 civilians had endeavored to leave the country and news of rapes has dramatically increased.

Reportedly, 50,000 have died in the ethnic fighting in Ituri since 1999.

The "Medecins Sans Frontieres" organization informed that they have treated more than 2.500 rape victims in the hospitals of the capital Bunia and the age of the victim’s ranges from four-months old to 80-years.
