‘Temporary Council Vetoes Turkish Troops’
Talabani emphasized the decision was not taken in the name of ‘enmity towards Turkey’. He was speaking after contacts with Arab League Secretary-General Amr Musa in Egypt.
Talibani said Iraq did not need troops from neighboring countries as Iraq’s security should be provided by Iraqis, and not by foreign forces.
Thanking Turkey for the food supplies, Talabani said: “I will visit Turkey soon and have economic, trade and cultural talks to improve Iraqi-Turkish relations. We are neighbors. We have lived together. We will live with our Turkish brothers in peace.”
