Telemundo secures rights to Turkish drama ‘Blooming Lady’
‘Blooming Lady’ is produced by MF Yapim and is based on the South Korean drama series ‘Doctor Cha’ from JTBC.
At the LA Screenings Independents event, Istanbul-based distributor MADD Entertainment unveiled news for Hispanic audiences in the US and beyond. The top-rated Turkish drama, locally known as Blooming Lady but titled Bahar in Turkey, is slated to make its debut on Telemundo, the media platform catering to Hispanic viewers.
Blooming Lady has earned widespread acclaim in Turkey over the past five years, emerging as one of the nation’s most cherished dramas. With its storyline centred around female characters, the series has captured the hearts of viewers across all demographics, securing the coveted #1 spot among both male and female audiences. Notably, its 11th episode achieved a 35.44% share of primetime viewership within the competitive ABC+20 demographic.
The narrative of Blooming Lady revolves around Bahar, a devoted mother whose life takes a dramatic turn when she confronts a life-threatening illness. Despite the challenges posed by her husband, the Chief Surgeon, and her son, a fellow resident, Bahar embarks on a journey to reclaim her aspirations by resuming her medical residency after a two-decade hiatus. Along the way, she unravels unsettling truths about her husband’s hidden life, ultimately rebuilding her life with newfound strength, love, and independence.

This collaboration marks the continuation of MADD and Telemundo’s partnership since 2018, when they introduced My Little Girl to the US Hispanic market, achieving significant viewership under the title Todo Por Mi Hija. The growing demand for Turkish dramas has led to the introduction of several acclaimed titles on Telemundo, including A Woman Scorned, Abandoned, All About Marriage, and many more.
Blooming Lady is an adaptation of South Korea’s Dr. Cha, featuring Demet Evgar in the lead role, supported by Buğra Gülsoy, Mehmet Yılmaz Ak, Hatice Aslan, and Ecem Özkaya.
