Tehran Halts Uranium Program
Secretary-General of the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran and first deputy speaker of the Majlis, Hasan Ruhani, said yesterday that Iran submitted a letter to the International Atomic Agency (IAEA) explaining that they have halted the Uranium enrichment program. Ruhani added this suspension will be valid as long as talks with the European Union (EU) continue toward a final agreement regarding Iran’s nuclear program. Iran has also reported that they accept all the articles in the agreement prepared by both parties during talks held last week in Paris. The IAEA will discuss a proposal to take Tehran’s nuclear program to the United Nations (UN) Security Council and apply sanctions on Iran on November 25th.
US Secretary of State Colin Powell said yesterday that America does not plan to change the regime in Iran and that they are not preparing to invade the country, but said the US does not approve of the Iranian regime. He expressed America’s wish that Iranians would stop nuclear weapons activities and end support for terrorism.
