Talks with US on troops continue: Turkish FM
Addressing the parliamentary Plan and Budget Committee on Monday, Gül said that talks with the US on having Turkish troops serve with the international stability contingent in Iraq had not been broken off, as had been reported.
The Foreign Minister maintained that there were benefits to be had from Turkey deploying forces in Iraq
“If Turkish troops were sent to Iraq it would contribute to the stabilisation of Iraq,” he said.
He stressed that Turkey’s foreign policy, taking in such diverse issues such as Iraq to relations with the European Union, was being pursued effectively.
