Taliban not to release kidnapped Turkish engineer
Meanwhile, Ghazni Governor Esadullah Khan, who has been carrying on talks with the kidnappers, arrived at Turkish Ambassy to inform Mufit Ozdes that kidnappers of Onal lifted the two-day period.
Esadullah Khan, departing from the embassy, responded questions of IHA reporter. "Kidnapped Onal’s health condition is good and Taliban fighters don’t want to kill Onal, but they want release of their imprisoned friends."
Onal and his Afghan driver were abducted at gunpoint on Thursday while travelling in the Shah Joy district of Zabul province on the main highway linking the capital Kabul with the southern province of Kandahar.
The driver was released on Friday and given a letter to the authorities threatening to kill Onal unless their 8 friends were released. They had also given a period of two days for release of their 8 imprisoned friends in exchange for him.
