Talat:Plan on the Table is Annan Plan

UBP Leader Eroglu said that they were not against the Annan Plan altogether, however, there were questionable points in it.

Talat said, “Solving the Cyprus issue has become inevitable. Both the future of Turkish Cypriots and EU prospects of Turkey depend on this.” Talat said that as CTP, they did not rule out any opportunity to form a government as a coalition. The important point here is the solution of the Cyprus issue and integration of TRNC with the rest of the world, he said.

On the plan being prepared by Ankara, Talat said that it had not been clarified yet. Nevertheless, according to Talat, TRNC and CTP, as the number one party of the elections, should also take part in this process. Talat said, “The sole plan on the table is the Annan Plan. The Ankara plan is a kind of calendar when compared to the Annan Plan. It seems that the Ankara Plan was prepared on the basis of the Annan Plan.”

Regarding the statements of Erdogan about the advisors of Denktas, Talat said, “We think that talks on the Cyprus issue should be conducted by the government not the President. Therefore, perhaps not only advisors, rather the whole team should be replaced.”

Dervis Eroglu said that there were two states in Cyprus, and when negotiating on the Annan Plan this fact should not be overlooked. Eroglu said that they did not want to deprive TRNC of a government and for that, everyone had responsibility.
