T.R.N.C. Council Of Ministers Allows Greek Cypriots To Stay

Following the cabinet meeting, Housing and Transportation Minister Salih Miroglu told reporters that they took decision on Greek Cypriots’ staying at hotels in TRNC for three days and stated that Greek Cypriot people who wanted to stay at hotels should make reservations and must show bill of accommodation at hotels when they returned to gates to pass to the other side.

Stating that they also took decision that two gates would also be opened, Miroglu said that those gates were Kermiya border gate in Lefkosa and Bostanci border gate in Guzelyurt.

Miroglu said that Kermiya gate from which only vehicles would pass would be opened in the coming days and stated that after Kermiya border gate was opened, Ledra Palace border gate would be closed to vehicles and only pedestrians would pass from the gate.

Stating that Greek Cypriot side, which implemented different procedures for TRNC citizens, allowed some of them to pass to the other side, but did not allow some others, Miroglu said that Greek Cypriot side did not allow Turkish Cypriots to pass to the Greek Cypriot side by their vehicles, either.

He said that they launched initiatives on those issues through U.N. Peace Force and expected positive results from the Greek Cypriot side.
