‘Sultans of Net’ complete Olympics Qualifiers undefeated, return to Türkiye – Turkiye Newspaper


Turkish National Women’s Volleyball Team, which completed Group B of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games Qualifiers held in Japan at the top, returned home. Arriving at Istanbul Airport VIP Terminal from Tokyo with THY’s scheduled flight, “Sultans of the Net” were welcomed by the little volleyball players of Arnavutkoy Municipality and fans with Turkish flags and flowers. 

Making statements to the press members at the airport, Istanbul Governor Davut Gul emphasized that they were happy as a country and,

“We welcomed ‘Sultans of Net’ together. We thank our president, coaches, and players one by one for making us feel this pride. I am glad they are with us,” said.

“WE REACHED OUR GOAL. I AM PROUD OF THESE PLAYERS AND TEAM.”

“We reached our goal. I am proud of these players and the team. We are very tired and we have very little time to rest. I am really happy for the success we have shown.” Head Coach of the Turkish National Women’s Volleyball Team, Daniele Santarelli, stated that they spent this summer very well and said.

“Our achievements will be written in gold letters in history. After the Nations League and the European Championships, we were the only team to finish the Olympic qualifiers undefeated. This success was realised thanks to our determination and discipline. When our coach first came, he told us that this summer would be our best summer. I would like to thank our coach for making us believe in these achievements.” Thanking for the warm welcome, Eda Erdem Dündar said.
