Strong earthquake hits Turkey
The quake hit Karliova town in Turkey’s Bingol province shortly before midnight Wednesday, Anatolia news agency said Thursday.
An official said there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage after the quake. "There is no damage in the town centre. But authorities have been trying to check on the situation in nearby mountain villages," he said.
Following the quake, people rushed out onto the streets in panic and most spent the night outside.
This was the second quake to strike the area in the last two weeks. On March 12, a 5.7 magnitude quake injured 15 people and damaged several houses in Karliova.
