Six drowned in southeast Turkey after heavy rains

A woman and her three children aged 16, three and one were drowned in the village of Ilica while a 45-year-old man and his 43- year-old wife were drowned in the nearby village of Derecik.

Both families were living in tents provided by the Turkish Red Crescent after their houses had been destroyed in fighting between Kurdish rebels and Turkish troops in the 1980s and ’90s.
