Sinop has serious amount of oil reserves
The Sinop oil reserves are expected to be Turkey’s first ascertained oil reserves in the Black Sea coastal area, which gives hope for Turkey to meet a large amount of its oil needs from these reserves.
The Turkish government is making a move to shift Turkey’s energy policy to diversify energy supplies, and a plan to use national resources like lignite, water and oil in producing energy instead of using purchased natural gas.
Guler also said Turkey is cooperating with Japan for removing the heavy carbon elements under the Black Sea that can easily be turned into energy.
"Japan plans to use these elements by 2010," he added.
Guler also said that the Mining Institute of Turkey (MTA) has started to probe for the golden element in Ordu’s Ulubey district.
