Singer Chooses Turkey for Export Base
From now on, all marketing, sales and other transactions of Singer products to be sent to Turkic countries will be handled in Turkey.
Making a speech at the anniversary celebration, Singer Turkey General Director, Stewart A. Fergus said yesterday that the Company decided to choose Turkey as an export base for Turkic countries in a meeting held last week.
Fergus said that the success of Turkish businessmen active in these countries was a factor in choosing Turkey as an export base. "Primarily in Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, we are conducting research in these countries. The most important decision that has to be made here is with whom we will be working in what country and. If that is done, we will start sales via Turkey," added Fergus.
Over the last three years in particular, the sale of sewing machines have increased, said Fergus, saying that people are taking up sewing as a hobby. "People want to see their own signatures on the materials they use. No one can make the cost of a product he or she has made at home lower than one from a textile factory," said Fergus.
Singer controls 80 percent of the Turkish sewing machine market and moves units in quantities of 70-80 thousand annually.
