Shiites call US troops to withraw from Iraq

"No, no to US" shouted the followers of the anti-US Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr as they headed towards the city’s Mohsin mosque under a sea of green flags, symbolising the Koran. Dozens of children, aged between 7 and 15, chanting slogans of "We are together for Sadr", "Long live Sadr", carried big pictures of al-Sadr and other Shiite clerics. Ahead of the Friday weekly prayer, "We want a democratic Iraq not a dictatorial regime." told Abd Hadil Derraci, the representative of al-Sadr, in his addressing which was interrupted by fiery slogans. "Saddam should be tried by Iraqi people in a fair trial." he said. al-Sadr was absent at the Friday prayer.
Shiite worshippers performed the Friday weekly after his addressing. "America must recognize our determination and understand what Iraqi people want. Both us and others want US forces withdraw from Iraqi lands." Derraci told IHA reporter on his departure from the mosque following the weekly prayer.
