Sgt. Frederick on Trial for Abu Ghraib Pleads Guilty

Frederick is on trial at the US base in Baghdad where he pled guilty to accusations such as set up, negligence, mistreatment, and assault. The court’s decision regarding the 38-year-old reserve will be announced today. Sgt. Frederic is reportedly the highest-ranking US soldier on trial for the torture at Abu Ghraib. The scandal broke out last April with the release of nude photos of captives being tortured by American soldiers.

Frederick was found responsible for taking the photos of masturbating captives and beating them in a way that left the prisoners hospitalized. In addition, the method of torture depicted in the photos is said to be Frederick’s idea. Another soldier, Jeremy Sivits, was also found guilty and given a one year sentence in jail and expulsion from the army.
