Sezer: Turkey only wants to help Iraq

KUALA LUMPUR – President Ahmet Necdet Sezer said today that Turkish assistance in stabilization, rebuilding and the future of Iraq would continue, adding that Turkey’s vision of Iraq was the same as all Iraqis and the international community and had no hidden agendas.

Speaking at the tenth Islamic Conference Organization (ICO) meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Sezer said that Iraq’s neighbors carried a special responsibility for the welfare of the Iraqi state and the people, and Turkey, as a friend, was willing to do as much as it could.

Sezer said Islamic world needed a serious renovation and reform, noting that now was the time to make this fundamental choice. He said Islamic countries either had to remain as they were or question themselves, make courageous decisions and raise the level of the civilization.
