Sezer approves sixth reform package
Sezer had rejected the package late last month since he objected to Parliament dropping Article 8 of the Anti-Terror Law, saying its removal would leave a legal void. However, he was obliged to sign it this time.
Sezer argued that propaganda encouraging terrorism would go unpunished and said the law should not be scrapped but instead amended in a way that would make it compatible with international law. The former judge said he feared lifting the ban would threaten national unity.
