Saudi Arabia is Brit’s Biggest Weapons Customer
The list of governments that the U.K. sells arms to was published in The Guardian Newspaper on June 8th. Saudi Arabia is at the top of the list with 189 million pounds in sales and the U.S. is second with 116 million pounds annually. Malaysia buys 97 million pounds worth of arms annually while Germany spends 94 million pounds, Italy spends 82 million pounds, India spends 78 million.
Turkey placed eighth on the list with 42.370 million pounds of arms purchases. Amman and the United Arab Emirates followed Turkey with 25 million pounds each.
Meanwhile, with the expectation that the European Union’s (EU) arms embargo on China will be lifted, the U.K. points out that the licenses of many firms that are preparing to export arms have already been confirmed.
