Russian Ship Sinks in Black Sea

The 435-foot ship, the Strelets, sank in rough seas about 65 miles off the coast, said Ertugrul Engiz, deputy head of the port of Zonguldak, 90 miles northwest of the capital, Ankara.

The Strelets was not carrying any cargo at the time and had departed from Turkey, the Anatolia news agency reported. Its destination was the Ukrainian port of Kherson.
Winter storms forced a helicopter and a plane that were dispatched as part of rescue efforts to turn back, the agency said.
