Rolls-Royce builds the largest battery storage facility in Türkiye

Rolls-Royce has been awarded a contract by Polat Enerji, one of Türkiye’s leading investors in the renewable energy sector, to supply a large-scale battery energy storage system with a capacity of 132 megawatt-hours (MWh).

The company’s mtu QG EnergyPack will be integrated into the Göktepe Wind Power Plant near Yalova in northwestern Türkiye and will ensure that electricity from renewable sources can be fed into the grid without interruption.

“This cooperation will also be a strong example of adapting world-class technologies to Türkiye’s renewable energy targets,” said Polat Enerji Board Member Neşet Özgür Cireli. “Our project will not only meet today’s energy needs but will also shape the energy transformation of the future.”

Polat Enerji owns approximately six per cent of Türkiye’s installed wind energy capacity with a total installed power of 702 megawatts (MW).
