Remembrance of Europe’s ‘Biggest Massacre’
A funeral ceremony was held for 338 Bosnian Muslims who were able to be identified among the more than 7,000 people killed by Serbs in the massacre that started on July 11,1995. Bosnian women are seen as a symbol of Europe’s biggest massacre. The remains of 338 Muslims were buried with a monument in a cemetery in Potokari after a burial prayer was performed at the ceremony. Over 5,000 bodies are in line for identification, and as their names are revealed, the sorrow of the massacre is renewed.
