Reema Khan attends wedding of Turkish ambassador’s son in Ankara
Lollywood legend Reema Khan and her husband, Dr Syed Tariq Shahab, attended the wedding of the Turkish ambassador’s son in Ankara.
According to Reema, Turkish Ambassador to the US Hasan Murat Mercan, and his wife invited them to the wedding.
“We were honoured to be invited to the wedding of the son of Turkish Ambassador to the US Hasan Murat Mercan and his wife, İnci Mercan,” Reema said in a post on Instagram.
She added: “Many key figures, including Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz and Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, showed up at the Grand Intercontinental Hotel.
“We enjoyed the Turkish food and the evening very much. Many things were similar to a Pakistani wedding, including the traditional Nikah ceremony and the sermon by the Grand Mufti of Turkey. Finally, the Vice President of Turkey spoke very well. We enjoyed the warm Turkish hospitality and their love for the people of Pakistan.”
Beginning her acting career in 1990 with the film Bulandi, Reema Khan appeared in more than 200 films, earning acclaim for her performances in movies like Nikah (1998), Mujhe Chand Chahiye (2000), and Koi Tujh Sa Kahan (2005).

She also ventured into directing and producing. Her directorial debut, Koi Tujh Sa Kahan, was both a critical and commercial success, winning the Best Film award at the Lux Style Awards in 2006. She continued her work behind the camera with Love Mein Ghum (2011), further establishing her versatility in the industry.

She has been active on television, hosting shows such as Caroron Mein Khel and special Ramadan transmissions. She has also been involved in philanthropic efforts, supporting organisations like the Sahara for Life Trust and Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital.
Reema Khan’s contributions to Pakistani cinema have been recognized with numerous awards, including the Nigar Award for Best Actress and the Pride of Performance award in 2019. Her enduring presence in the industry and dedication to her craft have solidified her status as a prominent figure in Pakistani entertainment.
Reema married Pakistani-American cardiologist Dr. Syed Tariq Shahab in November 2011. The couple has two sons: their first was born on March 24, 2015, and their second on August 20, 2024. Following her marriage, Reema relocated to the United States but continues to maintain a connection with her fans through social media and occasional visits to Pakistan.
