Reducing president’s referendum right useless

Speaking at a press conference in Parliament, Ozyurek said that president had the right to call a national referendum for any constitutional amendment, adding that every person who did not want Turkey’s environmental heritage lost would for against constitutional amendments.

He called on AKP to reach a consensus with the public and the opposition to resolve the matter, instead of looking for false answers.

There was no way an agreement could be reach on the proposed tertiary education law regulating the structure of the Tertiary Education Council (YOK), said Ozyurek, adding because AKP wanted to fill universities with its supporters and to alter the free environment to forward its ideology. He called on all, who believed in democracy and Ataturk to fight against such changes, adding that education minister showed his will to ignore legal procedures by attempting to circumvent decision taken by forcing private schools into taking poor students.

He also criticized the way Turkish Radio and Television Bureau (TRT) Directorship elections were held yesterday and claimed that Aydogan Kilinc, who received five votes in the third round of elections should have been included as a candidate. He claimed that the matter would be overturned by courts.
