Red crescent aid reaches Iran

BAM/IRAN (AA) – Red Crescent’s emergency aid reached to Iran on Saturday.

Red Crescent Chairman Ertan Gonen said that the military cargo plane which dispatched emergency aid of Red Crescent reached Iran at 3.00 a.m. on Saturday.

Gonen noted that aid convoy comprised of six trucks and one satellite communication vehicle was en route to Iran.

Turkey would send aid worth of 566.6 billion U.S. dollars to Iran, Gonen stated.

Gonen pointed out that the aid consisted of 400 tents, 7,500 blankets, 3,000 kitchen sets, 1,000 parcels of foodstuff, 110 parcels of medical equipment, 14 generators and 3,000 body bags.

Red Crescent was ready for every kind of aid to Iran, Gonen said.

Gonen added that Turkish Red Crescent was in continuos contact with Iranian Red Crescent.

Meanwhile, search and rescue team comprised of 15 people from Directorate General of Civil Defense, 30 people from Health Ministry, two full-equipped rescue vehicles, and two people from Red Crescent came to Iran to help search and rescue operations.

The group brought 1,000 body bags, 1,269 kilograms of medical equipment and 200 parcels of foodstuff to Iraq.

Also, 65 people from Istanbul came to Iran to join search and rescue operations.
