Recent KKTC Move Provokes Strong Greek Cypriot Reaction

In a statement made after the emergency meeting convened by Greek Cypriot leader Tassos Papadopoulos, spokesman Kypros Chrysostomides said the decision taken by the KKTC Cabinet was "against international law and verdicts of the European Court of Human Rights and the United Nations." Chrysostomides, who reiterated the accusations of Turkish occupation leveled by the Greek Cypriots, said: "The National Council characterized the decision of the occupier regime by a unanimous vote as a move directed at creating impressions and misleading the international community. The policy of the Greek side was uninterrupted movement, and our target was always to end the occupation. The insisted-upon restrictions are a result of the occupation."
