Rebeca Andrade set for 2024 debut at FIG World Challenge Cup in Antalya, Turkey – Schedule and how to watch
Brazil’s most decorated gymnast ever, Rebeca Andrade, will make her Olympic season debut Friday (29 March) at the World Challenge Cup in Antalya, Turkey. The 24-year-old is registered to compete on the uneven bars.
With the Paris 2024 Olympic Games less than four months away, all eyes will be on Andrade who is set to be one of the stars of the artistic gymnastics competition in the French capital.
Since winning vault gold and all-around silver at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in 2021, Andrade has made history at every turn: a 2022 World all-around gold, Brazil first World team medal and a five-medal haul at the 2023 Worlds, to name a few.
In Antalya, Andrade will be joined by several other stars of the sport including 2016 Olympic balance beam champion Sanne Wevers of the Netherlands, World team bronze medallist Melanie de Jesus dos Santos of France, uneven bars World silver medal-winner Kaylia Nemour of Algeria, and her silver-medal winning Brazil teammates Flavia Saraiva, Lorrane Oliveira, and Jade Barbosa.
Eight-time Olympian Oksana Chusovitina has registered to compete on all four apparatus as the 48-year-old gears up for the Asian Championships, her final chance to earn a quota to the Olympic Games in Paris.
In the men’s field, Olympic parallel bronze medallist Ferhat Arican is set to compete, along with teammates Ibrahim Colak, the 2019 still rings World champion, and Adem Asil, the 2022 still rings World champion.
