Ramallah: Palestinians protest at Israeli raid in Gaza

Palestinians in Ramallah staged a demonstration on Friday to protest against the Israeli forces’ raid in the Gaza Strip. 32 Palestinians were killed in the Israeli forces’ operation entitled "Regret Day", in the last two days.

A group of Palestinians gathered at Lions’ Square following the Friday prayers, chanting slogans against Israel. Members of several political parties and NGOs also participated in the demonstration.

Bassam Salhe, president of the Palestinian Popular Party made a speech on behalf of the crowd participating in the demonstration. Salhe claimed Israel has been lying to the world.

"Israel is planning to fully invade Gaza again. They plan a new massacre, bloodshed and terrorism. They lie to the world, saying they will pull out from Gaza."

Abu Ali Makbal, another Palestinian leader participating in the demonstration, claimed Israel does not want peace in the region. "They continue to slaughter people in the Jabaliyah refugee camp. Ariel Sharon, Israel in particular, does not want peace and security," he said.

Another protest in Ramallah came from the shop owners. They closed their shops on Friday both to protest at the Israeli offensive and mourn the people killed in the raids.
