Quake aid for Türkiye and Syria set to be delivered
THE first batch of #HelpThem donations will shortly be winging their way to Syria and Türkiye to help desperate earthquake victims rebuild their shattered lives … with love from our family of readers and online visitors.
GDN Media has teamed up with Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS), the kingdom’s oldest charity, to help survivors in both countries, as well as struggling local families through the campaign.
Donations kindly dropped off at the GDN offices in East Riffa since the launch of the Ramadan campaign were picked up yesterday morning and transported to the BRCS for sorting and packing.
“We have decided to make the donation delivery process to Türkiye and Syria more dynamic,” said BRCS secretary-general Mubarak Al Hadi.
“Instead of waiting until the campaign finishes on April 25, following Eid Al Fitr, and sending the items altogether, we will deliver them in non-stop batches to ensure that the much-needed supplies are handed over and made available as soon as possible.”
Under the hashtag #HelpThem we urge supporters to continue backing the initiative with donations of:
• Clothes, shoes and accessories for men, women and children
• Blankets and pillows
• Hygiene kits
• And toys
Donated gifts during Ramadan can be left at our security office at The Press in East Riffa, our commercial office on the Exhibition Avenue and the BRCS headquarters, both located in Hoora.
The February 6 earthquakes were the worst natural disaster to strike both countries.
