Policy pursued on Cyprus is a state policy

Delegations of the Grand Unity Party (BBP), the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), the Felicity Party (SP), the Motherland Party (ANAP), the Democratic People’s Party (DEHAP), the Democratic Left Party (DSP), the Young Party (GP), the Republican People’s Party (CHP), the True Path Party (DYP) and the New Turkey Party (YTP) visited the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) on Monday to mark the Feast of Sacrifice.

State Minister Besir Atalay, AK Party Deputy Group Chairman Salih Kapusuz, Deputy Chairman Halil Urun and deputy Huseyin Tanriverdi hosted the delegations.

The Cyprus issue and foreign policy issues were high on agenda of visits.

During the visit, MHP Deputy Chairman Murat Sefkatli expressed their concerns about statement of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who said that they could cede a certain among of territory from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

In response, State Minister Atalay said, "the policy which we have been pursued on the Cyprus issue, is a state policy. Everything about the issue is clear. Turkey has become more respected and more powerful country in the international platform as a result of recent developments both in foreign and domestic policies. The issue of territory is not a new issue. President Rauf Denktas of TRNC made a similar statement in the past. We have assumed an approach protecting presence and territory of Turkish Cypriot people and targeting better living conditions for them."
